CertainTeed’s installer certification program has three levels. Most contractors who install CertainTeed products hold no certification at all. Northshore Exterior Experts holds the Master Shingle Applicator™ designation — the highest level CertainTeed awards.
This matters for two concrete reasons. First, your Lifetime Limited Warranty is fully honored only when the product is installed according to CertainTeed’s published standards — which a certified installer is trained and verified to follow. Second, the SureStart PLUS extended labor warranty is only available through certified installers. That’s years of labor coverage you simply cannot get from an uncertified crew.
SureStart PLUS: When installed by a ShingleMaster™ certified contractor, CertainTeed provides SureStart PLUS — extended labor and product warranty coverage for the first years of the installation. Cedar Impressions is not vinyl siding. It is modified polypropylene copolymer — a fundamentally different material that is significantly thicker (up to 1″ vs. vinyl’s 0.04″), more rigid, and molded with TrueTexture™ depth that standard vinyl cannot replicate. Standard vinyl siding is a thin, flat panel. Cedar Impressions is a dimensional shingle product that replicates the individual shadow lines, texture variation, and layering of hand-applied cedar shingles. The price difference reflects this — Cedar Impressions is a premium product, not a vinyl alternative.
